Full Sail University Review

On the path to finding a great audio engineering school, you will no doubt see the name Full Sail University pop up.

This school was founded in 1979 as primarily an audio production and engineering program. As time went on, the need for an expanded scope lead Full Sail to offer courses in video production, music scoring, computer animation, and various other audio entertainment facets.

Today, Full Sail is a huge, nationally accredited complete audio/visual entertainment college. They have produced many successful audio engineers, music producers, ect…

One Year After Graduation Video

Below is a video from a Full Sail grad being interviewed about working with Beyonce, Jay-z, and others after only year after graduation.

How Much Does it Cost?

The tuition for Full Sail can range from $30,000 and up, depending on what program you’re enrolled in and how many scholarships you qualify for. I would also suggest looking up to see if you qualify for financial aid.

Is It Worth It?

This is a judgement call, and most of the time it depends on what your goals are. For those of you interested in audio engineering just a hobby, I would probably go another route. If you have decided that this will be your career, then I would say this is something you should seriously consider.

Not only will you learn the skills you need to thrive in this industry, but the connections you make with other students, and teachers can only help you down the road.

Where is Full Sail University?

Currently, Full Sail has a campus in Florida. If you don’t live near Florida, and are unable or unwilling to move, they offer audio engineering and music production courses online.

You Get Out, What You Put In

I’ve talked to quite a few Full Sail graduates and they all typically say the same thing. “F.S. will give you all the tools you need to succeed, but once you graduate, it’s up to you to be successful with those tools.”

Basically that means they aren’t going to hand you a job when you’re done.

I would recommend trying to find a place to intern or start an apprenticeship while finishing up Full Sail. This way you will already have a place to go when you graduate.

From the success stories I’ve from graduates, I noticed they all have one thing in common; They busted their ass. There are no free hand outs, and these people went after what they wanted, and they go it.

Just like that guy from the video above. He had one year to make something happen or he was going to be deported back to Canada. He busted his ass and made it happen. Honestly ask yourself, do you think you could do that?

Other Options

If you would prefer not to attend an ‘on-campus’ audio engineering school, there are still plenty of options available for you.
